My studio research is embedded in my love of the Scottish landscape, inspired by its seaforms, landforms and habitats. Natural materials I collect are reconfigured to discover new relationships and explore how inner perceptions connect to an external environment. I find a freedom in this gathering and collaboration with the surrounding landscape.

Exploring the diverse temporal and spatial connections which these other realities offer reinforces and supports the rest of my arts practice.

‘Stones’ are signposts to ‘Deep Time’ – ‘Roots’ symbols of a deep connection to the Earth and to quote Emily Dickinson – ‘hope is a thing with feathers’.
